157 New Nursing Colleges to be Established by the Centre Presented at Union Budget 2023

New Delhi : Presenting the Union Budget 2023-24 in Parliament today, on February 01, 2023, the Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Smt. New Nursing Colleges to be Established

In line with this vision of India@100 and Amrit Kaal, the Finance Minister announced establishment of 157 new nursing colleges in co-location with the existing 157 medical colleges, established since 2014.

Sickle Cell Anaemia Elimination Mission

Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman also announced the launch of the Sickle Cell Anemia Elimination Mission which will involve awareness generation, universal screening of 70 million people in the age group of 0 to 40 years and counseling through collaborative efforts of Central Ministries and State Governments in the affected tribal areas. work will be done.

ICMR Labs available for R&D:

The Finance Minister said that to encourage research and innovation in the medical field, the facilities of selected ICMR laboratories would be made available to government and private medical college faculty and private sector R&D teams for research.

Research & Innovation in Pharma Sector:

The Finance Minister announced that a new program would be launched through Centers of Excellence to encourage research and innovation in the pharmaceutical sector. “We will also encourage industries to invest in research and development in specific priority areas,” he said.

Dedicated multidisciplinary courses for medical devices:

Underlining the importance of future-oriented medical technologies and high-end manufacturing in the medical sector, Hon’ble Finance Minister Smt. Sitharaman said that fully dedicated multi-disciplinary courses for medical devices will be promoted in the existing institutions so that there is a need for future-oriented medical technologies, high-end manufacturing and research.
